Philip Hammond’s budget, which spends more on preparations for Britain leaving the European Union than on the NHS, shows that the Government has the wrong priorities for Britain says Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner.

The budget also failed to provide additional funding for schools or for funding pay in public services, which will leave many Cambridge families facing a further fall in their living standards.

Daniel says, “instead of finding £3 billion to help build extra customs posts, when we should be trying to stay in the customs union, the Chancelllor should have been focused on helping people who have seen their wages failing to keep up with increased prices in the shops, and young people who face ever-rising rent costs like they are in Cambridge. The Chancellor claimed that this was the Government’s vision for Britain, but these are the wrong priorities and it will leave everyone poorer in future.”
