Star Radio’s campaign to encourage people to donate blood platelets is praised today by Cambridge Labour Parliamentary spokesperson Daniel Zeichner as he makes his first donation. As a regular previous blood donor, he cheerfully admits that he didn’t know what was special about blood platelets until alerted by the local radio station’s campaign:

The ongoing fiasco surrounding todays’s Government announcement on future support for renewable energy will be bad for Cambridge, warns Cambridge Labour Party spokesperson Daniel Zeichner. The Government has for weeks been locked in an internal battle over cuts to support for renewable energy which are needed to deliver future carbon targets and to stimulate a green-job based economic recovery.

Twenty four constituency Labour Parties from across Eastern England have backed Daniel in his bid to continue to represent the region on Labour’s National Policy Forum. Ballot papers are being sent to party members this week, and Daniel says that he is extremely grateful for the wide support: ” Getting support from so many CLPs, including CLPs in all six counties across our region, is a very good start in this election campaign. Labour’s National Policy Forum meets in Birmingham on June 16 and 17 and I will be taking the issues raised by party members direct to our party leaders. I welcome the appointment of Jon Cruddas to chair the policy review, and the recommendation that Angela Eagle chair the National Policy Forum – this is the radical turn that Labour needs to equip us to face the huge challenges that will face us when we move into Government.”
