Daniel Zeichner MP joined Cambridge University UNICEF Society to back an international campaign to improve how child refugees are resettled by safe nations.

The MP joined student activists who have organised petition signings across the University of Cambridge. The petition encourages the Government to do more to help with the resettlement of child refugees, ensuring that they are reunited with their families. While the Government have promised to resettle child refugees with their families in Britain, after pressure from Labour MPs, uncertainty remains about how the policy has been implemented. 

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “We have seen here in Cambridge what can be achieved for refugees when local civil society groups, residents and the council are on the same page. At the heart of our thinking should be compassion; for those suffering from international events beyond their control and for those who have been separated from family members on their journey to safety.

“I’m proud to be backing the UNICEF campaign and of the hard work that Cambridge University UNICEF Society, and other groups, are putting into raising this important issue. We are an internationalist city, a city that welcomes refugees”.
