Fears for the NHS have been raised by the Chairs of all the NHS organisations in Cambridgeshire who have written a letter to the Leader of Cambridgeshire County Council.

The health bosses warn that Cambridgeshire County Council cuts could have big knock on effects on the NHS.

In their letter they have said £40 million cuts over 5 years in funding for care packages will have the “inevitable consequence” of more people being admitted to hospital unnecessarily, increased pressure on vital community health services and delays in discharging people from hospital.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “It’s not rocket science. The government cuts funding to councils. Then councils cut funding for social care. Then the NHS is forced to pick up the pieces. It’s short sighted and everyone loses.”
