Daniel Zeichner MP, speaking in Parliament this week, has raised the issue of the pressures facing Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

The Cambridge MP raised the case of a local resident who was treated in a seminar room and challenged Jeremy Hunt MP, Secretary of State for Health, to come to Cambridge and see the reality on the ground.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “Addenbrooke’s is working flat out, but the Government is in denial about the cause of the problem -; that too many people are stuck in hospital because the care system outside is failing. Jeremy Hunt says other areas are managing, so I asked him to come to Cambridgeshire and sit down with his Conservative County Council colleagues and explain to them what they are doing wrong. The system is at breaking point, and we haven’t even had the cold weather yet -; we need the Government to get a grip.”
