Cambridge’s MP joined local school pupils for Anglia Ruskin’s ‘Eyes on the Prize’ careers event.

Pupils from schools inside Cambridge and surrounding villages attended the careers fair in allocated slots throughout the following three days. Daniel Zeichner MP toured the fair and met students.

The fair supports students from local schools as they decide their GCSE options, the event itself was organised by ARU as a university taster session and aimed to inspire young minds about their future academic choices.

Participants learned about the importance of goal setting, and were put in direct contact with education and apprenticeship providers, employers and universities provided information and advice to enable students to make good use of their GCSE options to progress their future careers.

Now moving in to its fourth year this event, delivered in partnership with the Cambridge Area 14-19 Partnership, has gone from strength to strength and welcomed over 1,500 Year 8 and 9 students on to ARU’s Cambridge campus across the three days.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “It is important that local school students think carefully about their education; what qualifications they would like to pursue and the sort of field that will interest them in future.

“The ‘Eyes on the Prize’ fair is a great way to explore what options are out there, it can seem quite daunting, and it is pleasing that ARU are working with partners and schools to put on this great event for another year.”
