Outspoken Training welcomed Daniel Zeichner MP for a one to one Bikeability taster session.

Bikeability aims to enthuse people to cycle by equipping them with the skills and confidence to ride more. Over the 2 hour lesson Daniel experienced all three levels of the scheme alongside one of Outspoken’s experienced National Standard instructors.

This involved navigating and discussing a variety of junctions, cycling infrastructure and traffic scenarios within Cambridge to find out more about The Department for Transport guidance for cycling.

Last year Outspoken trained over 10,000 pupils from over 300 schools throughout the eastern region as well as 250 adults through a new cycle training programme launched 5 months ago thanks to funding from Cambridgeshire County Council. In addition Outspoken also help deliver Safe Urban Driving courses, giving HGV drivers the opportunity to experience roads from a cyclist’s perspective and share their experience of driving a lorry.

Kieron McNab, Head of Training at Outspoken, said “we are aiming to help normalise cycling as an everyday form of transport. By supporting riders with advice on road positioning and how to communicate effectively, we hope to ensure commuting is a positive experience for all road users whilst reminding people how much fun riding a bicycle is.”
