Daniel Zeichner MP was given a progress report on the new Cambridge North Station as he visits the construction site.

The eagerly awaited station is due to open in May 2017 and will have three new platforms, a 1,000-space cycle park and 450-space car park for passengers.

The station has been hit by delays and was originally due to be operational from December 2015.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “I wanted to see what progress has been made and get an assurance from Network Rail that there will be no more delays.

Like many people in Cambridge I’m eager for the station to open.

If we are going to avoid gridlock in Cambridge and unlock future growth we need rapid improvements to our public transport.”
