Daniel Zeichner MP has welcomed the planned re-opening of a Cambridgeshire clinic to assess adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) after the system “ground to a halt.”

Mr Zeichner, who has been contacted by residents who have been waiting for appointments for a year, described the system as “broken.”

Waiting lists were already high and then the ADHD assessment clinic was closed due to the COVID pandemic. However similar clinics in other parts of the country remained open.

Now though, additional funding has been secured and the service will re-open later this month.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “This is a welcome relief for many people waiting for an assessment. We are dealing with an unprecedented pandemic but we also need to make sure the rest of the health service functions well. On my visits to the Chitra Sethia Autism Centre I have seen first-hand the fantastic work of dedicated professionals. Now we need to concerted effort to get to waiting times down especially as this is the kind of service it is possible to conduct remotely.”
