20,000 bottles of Spanish wine destined for Cambridge glasses are tied up in red tape and local MP Daniel Zeichner is demanding action.

In the Commons today, the Cambridge MP will slam the Tory Government accusing them of bungling Brexit.

Mr Zeichner’s constituent Hal Wilson, of Cambridge Wines, knows for sure that everything is definitely not coming up rosé. Customs bottlenecks mean that Hal can’t get his wine into Cambridge. The local businessman says it is like travelling back 30 years in time as he is forced to use a vintage paper based system.

The Cambridge MP will challenge the government minister to sort out the mess they have created as they discuss the detailed legislation for wine importers in the Commons.

Other wine lovers have been warned they face paying a “Brexit tax” of up to £1.50 more for bottles plonk and fizz coming from France, Italy and Spain.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “The government’s promises of a bright future are withering on the vine. They need to uncork this blockage. No one who voted for Brexit voted for their favourite tipple to be stuck at the border.”
