Local MP Daniel Zeichner has urged the people of Cambridge to get behind Cherry Hinton Hall Park and cast their votes to crown it “Best Park” in the Fields in Trust annual award. Daniel Zeichner joined Cllr Robert Dryden and local residents on Saturday 5 November at 10.30am at the Cherry Hinton Hall.

The attractive park set among mature trees has been shortlisted for the award. Best known for hosting the Cambridge Folk Festival, the park is well-loved all year round and boasts a natural area containing a lake, paddling pools, an aerial runway, and a free-to-use tennis court and table tennis tables.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “Please vote for our local park. Let’s get a tree-mendous victory! I love walking round our local green spaces. Our parks are the green lungs of the city where people of all ages can walk, talk, run, play or sit.” 

Fields in Trust Chief Executive Helen Griffiths said: “Parks and open spaces are arguably the most universal of all public services. They are used by the entire community from pre-school children through to retired adults – our nation’s parks and green spaces are places to enjoy life experiences, whether that’s reaching a personal sporting milestone, teaching grandchildren to cycle, engaging with nature, having a first kiss or simply walking a much loved dog.”
