27th January will mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the site of the largest mass murder in history.

Cambridge Labour Parliamentary candidate Daniel Zeichner will be commemorating the event at the Cambridge Holocaust Memorial Day which will include testimony from an Auschwitz survivor and a dramatic interpretation of the experience of Lore Robinson who was found shelter in Cambridge, as a Jewish refugee child, by students from Long Road Sixth Form College.

Ahead of the event Mr Zeichner, whose father was forced to flee Vienna when the Nazis came to power, said:

“This is an important opportunity to remember the victims and survivors of the Holocaust and to support the ongoing fight against prejudice and hatred.

“In this 70th anniversary year, and following the recent shocking events in Paris, now more than ever we must ensure that we continue to challenge all forms of extremism and instead celebrate tolerance and diversity.”
