Daniel Zeichner MP has welcomed the news that the National Audit Office will investigate the collapse of the Uniting Care Contract.

Mr Zeichner had called for the independent organisation to conduct a full review.

Sir Amyas Morse, Comptroller and Auditor General of the National Audit Office has written to Mr Zeichner to say they will hold an “independent investigation into all of the factors which led to the termination of the UnitingCare contract”

The debacle saw the biggest tendering process in NHS history collapse after just eight months.

NHS England and the CCG have undertaken reviews but this will be the first attempt to look at all of the factors which led to the collapse of the contract and the cost to the taxpayer.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “I am pleased that my call for a National Audit Office investigation has been answered. Cambridge taxpayers and patients deserve to find out the full picture.”
