The shadow skills minister with responsibility for colleges Gordon Marsden visited Cambridge Regional College with local MP Daniel Zeichner to meet the college principal and catering students.

Mr Marsden discussed funding in the further education sector with college principal Anne Constantine after a report by the cross-party public accounts committee said there were serious concerns about the future of FE in England.

He then met students studying on the Hospitality and Catering course in the training kitchen and sampled some of their tasty cooking.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “CRC has some fantastic facilities like the state-of-the-art training and production kitchens manned by talented future chefs. Here young people are being equipped with the skills and qualifications they need. This is just the kind of place that needs nurturing. Sadly, the government has been slow to tackle the crisis in further education.”
