Labour Parliamentary Candidate Daniel Zeichner and Labour councillors who represent the area around the Abbey stadium in Newmarket Road are urging talks to take place between club officials and County Council transport chiefs to address local concerns about match day parking.
With Cambridge United set to take on Manchester United in the FA Cup Daniel Zeichner spoke to the Cambridge News.
Daniel Zeichner, Cambridge's Labour parliamentary candidate and U's fan, said: "We're all looking forward to seeing the big guns come to the Abbey – they may be a touch perplexed by the coconuts, and hopefully they will be sufficiently distracted to be knocked off their perch."
Shadow Sports Minister Clive Efford MP was in the city visiting Cambridge United to hear about the exciting work being done by the club with local young people, and in particular, Jez George's epic Mission 676 fund-raising ventures. He was invited by Cambridge Labour Parliamentary Candidate Daniel Zeichner, who is pictured with Abbey Councillor Richard Johnson, Chairman Dave Doggett and Dave Matthew-Jones from the Supporters Trust.
Cambridge United have had a great season so far, but face crunch games in the next few days in their quest for promotion. Off the pitch their Director of Football Jez George is embarking on a marathon walk - an incredible 676 miles, 26 marathons in 26 days - visiting every premiership ground to raise awareness of the issues facing youth sport, and fundraising for Cambridge United’s Youth Trust.
