Frustrated Trumpington residents are finding themselves on the wrong side of the digital divide as BT and Openreach fail to connect up their new build properties. One such resident met Daniel Zeichner MP.

Residents in Baker Lane have been left waiting for three months without a phone line and access to the internet and say there have been a catalogue of mistakes processing their orders.

Phuong Skovgaard, who is an IT professional, says the incompetence is affecting her job and her son’s school work. She claims that  BT have lost her order, engineers have failed to call when they promised and have missed appointments.

Ms Skovgaard says: “I live in the middle of high-tech Cambridge, but I can’t get a phone line!”

Daniel Zeichner MP who is in contact with BT says Ms Skovgaard is not alone and that he has been asked by a number of local residents suffering the same problems to intervene.

Daniel Zeichner said: “From the outside these new-build homes look like they are designed for 21st century living. Instead we have frustrated housholders, suffering endless delays, who still can’t access the internet in one of the most technologically advanced cities in the world! I have demanded action from BT.”
