Please help me put Cambridgeshire’s chronic long-term schools’ underfunding under the spotlight.

Despite a top-up last year, Cambridgeshire still languishes in the bottom 20 worst funded areas, receiving just £4261 per pupil compared to schools in the best funded areas which are given on average £6,297 per-pupil.

The existing school funding model is arbitrary and unfair. As a result, schools around the country that are similar can get very different budgets and children with the same needs can receive very different levels of financial support depending on where they go to school.

Cambridge is an education city – but we need the resources to ensure every child can reach their true potential. For years, Cambridgeshire schools have been underfunded. We don’t want top-ups here and there, Cambridge parents and teachers all agree it is time to address Cambridgeshire school underfunding funding once and for all. Let’s have some decisive action from the government and fix this now with a long-term change in the national funding formula for schools.
