It was shear delight at a Cambridge hair salon as they opened their doors at one minute past midnight to get to grips with their customers’ long locks after three months of lockdown.

Scissors at the ready, Piero’s Hairdressing on Mill Road welcomed Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner and Cllr Lewis Herbert, for the first hair cut as Mr Zeichner officially re-opened the salon.

Hairdressers and barbers, along with pubs and cafes join the list of businesses re-opening their their doors to the public once again on Saturday 4 July.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “I might not have that much hair, but even mine needs a good trim! I know lots of people have been waiting for this moment and I want to encourage people to support local businesses across the city. They have had a really tough time and we need to make sure that they can get through this economic crisis, because it is that mix of independent and quirky shops and cafes that makes Cambridge special.”

The Salon has invested in preparing for the reopening to ensure staff and clients are as safe as possible including kitting out staff with face shields, providing hand sanitiser to customers and making sure everyone stays a safe distance apart.
