Cambridge residents will be able to calculate their carbon footprint and at the click of a button find city-specific top tips on how to live a greener life thanks to the new Cambridge Climate Change Charter which launches this Monday 7 September.

Hosted on the Cambridge Carbon Footprint website, the Charter will enable people to measure their carbon footprint, then pledge to reduce their impact, and use the online advice hub to help them succeed.

To meet Cambridge City Council’s goal of becoming net zero by 2050 the average carbon footprint will need to come down from 9 tonnes to 1.5.

Daniel Zeichner MP who will be attending the virtual launch said: “We are in a climate and ecological emergency, and it’s now more important than ever to reduce our city’s carbon footprint. Cambridge City Council have committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions, and I’m immensely proud to now see the creation of this Cambridge Climate Change Charter to help support businesses, organisations and citizens across the city to do the right thing and reduce emissions. We are a vibrant and innovative city, and one that cares about our shared environment – the fight to protect it is one that concerns us all, and I would urge everyone to play their part, sign up to the Charter and help implement it.”
