Following the news that the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse will shut this week until further notice, Daniel Zeichner MP has expressed concern for the future of the cinema which

champions art-house and repertory film, and plays host to the annual Cambridge Film Festival.

Daniel Zeichner MP said:

“I am very sad that the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse is closing its doors. This highlights that the Government’s one-sized fits all approach is not working and more support for hardest hit sectors is vital. I don’t want to lose a city centre institution that is valued by so many. I remember fondly when the Arts Cinema was in Market Passage and seeing Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon and it’s a place generations of students and Cambridge residents have enjoyed. This isn’t just a cinema it’s part of the beating heart of Cambridge. We need to come up with solutions to save the Arts Picturehouse.”
