Reacting to the Prime Minister’s announcement of a three tier system for coronavirus rules, Daniel Zeichner MP said: “There can be no doubt that we are in the midst of a second wave of the virus but sadly I am not convinced that the Prime Minister has a strategy.
From the moment Dominic Cummings went to Barnard Castle to have his eyes tested, public confidence has taken knock after knock. Here in Cambridge people saw for themselves the exams fiasco, the school meals fiasco and the testing fiasco.
The government squandered to chance in the summer to get an effective testing system in place and we’ve had announcement after announcement from the PM as the government zig-zag from problem to problem. Of course we all hope the measures will work, but until a clear plan is presented that really involves local leaders rather than being imposed from the centre, I fear we will face further problems.”
