I was delighted to meet leading members of the students union at Anglia Ruskin in Cambridge today to support the campaign against the huge cut to Disabled Support Allowance made by Lib Dem Business Secretary Vince Cable. Thanks to incompetence in his department, a big budget over-run means that students with disabilities at universities like ARU are taking a major hit. Some 1800 students at ARU are affected – why on earth do the Lib Dems in the Coalition think it’s ok to hand people earning a million pounds a fifty thousand cash-back, while taking money off students with disabilities? Tough choices? No – wrong choices.
