All services for older people in Cambridgeshire could be run by Virgin Healthcare in a deal that will start just days before the next General Election and run for the whole Parliament.

Cambridge Labour Parliamentary Candidate Daniel Zeichner has joined Labour Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham in calling for the decision to be delayed. Daniel Zeichner told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire’s Chris Mann that at the last General Election the Conservative and Liberal Democrats made no mention of the plans -; despite appearing at 30 hustings events with him:

“The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats have no mandate to sell our NHS to Virgin -; local people should be allowed to express their view. The truth is that if you want the NHS to stay in our hands, we need a Labour Government next May -; there is no other way.”
