As the pine needles drop and it’s time to spruce up the house after the Christmas festivities, Daniel Zeichner MP is reminding residents not to forget to give their gift to the environment by recycling their real Christmas tree.

Mr Zeichner joined recycling residents as he took his own tree to the special recycling point at Cherry Hinton Hall Car Park, Cherry Hinton Road, Cambridge.

After the City Council collect the Christmas trees they are chopped up at Cherry Hinton Hall, and then the chippings are used across the city.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “Cambridge residents are recycling fans but during the festive season around 30% more waste accumulates in people’s homes so at this time of the year it’s even more important to reduce, reuse, recycle and recover as much as you can. Later in the year you can get a tree-mendous buzz out of seeing the chippings used in our city’s parks and nature reserves!”
