Daniel Zeichner MP raised the case of 8 year old Dylan who can’t see his dad in the Commons today (Wednesday 3 June).

Professor Matthew Gaunt and his ex-wife share custody of Dylan. Dylan lives in Germany with his mum and before coronavirus hit Professor Gaunt visited his son every fortnight for four days.

But the strict quarantine rules of staying 14 days in isolation, mean Professor Gaunt and Dylan risk being separated full time.

Speaking in the Commons, Mr Zeichner urged the Home Secretary to look sympathetically at such cases. He said: “Matthew and Dylan have a right to a family life. I know that life is difficult for many people at the moment but the quarantine policy risks being a sledge hammer to crack a nut with no thought given to people’s family circumstances or businesses.”
