The long-running campaign to secure a Living Wage for workers in Cambridge took another step forward this week.

Cambridge Labour Councillors joined me in signing up to UNISON’s campaign, which is seeking to ensure that workers get a minimum of £7.20 an hours in a city with a very high cost of living. By our calculation, the cost for the City Council is minor, with few full-time staff currently earning less, but there may be a tougher fight to win this for out-sourced staff or those working on short-term contracts. Frankly, in a wealthy city, it is shameful that people are still struggling on┬ásuch low-pay- this campaign has a long way to go, and it will have my full support.
