Cambridge Lib Dem MP Julian Huppert remains unrepentant about the Lib Dem broken promises. Challenged on Radio Cambridgeshire by Daniel Zeichner, he declined  to apologise for his pre-election promise of  rail fare rises of 1% below inflation. As Mr Zeichner explained, rail fares went up 6% in January and are set to rise by another 6% next January.

Mr Huppert went on to say how well things are going in Cambridge. Daniel Zeichner says that the Liberal Democrats are living in a fantasy land: “People facing year after year of real-terms pay cuts, and huge hikes in prices like rail fares, will listen to the Lib Dems in disbelief. First on tuition fees, now on rail fares, Julian Huppert shows no contrition for misleading voters in Cambridge. Even Nick Clegg says he’s sorry!”
