The decision by Royal Mail to go ahead with the closure of the Cambridge Sorting Office and divert mail up the A14 via Peterborough is very disappointing.

They now need to lay out clearly the evidence that they have used to come to this decision, and explain why they have not considered other alternatives, including considering a different site in Cambridge. With internet-based parcel volumes set to increase rapidly in Cambridge, this is a short-sighted and foolish decision which we will continue to challenge
