“Cambridge Union is painted red” that’s how the Cambridge News reported Labour’s stunning win at the Cambridge Union.
Students debated the motion “This House would welcome the return of a Labour Government” with the ayes wining 42% of the vote.
CULC student Rory Weal said: “The result shows that students in Cambridge recognise that the Labour Party is best placed to fundamentally change society and lead the fight for equality. Students will have a huge role in determining the outcome of the election here in Cambridge – let’s build on this momentum and get Labour MP in May.”
Daniel Zeichner said: “Students tell me they are fed up with this Government. They’ve been betrayed on tuition fees and scrapping EMA. It’s now unpaid internships that follow a good quality education, not a good job while home ownership remains a distant dream.”
