Cambridge Cleantech launch their manifesto for the next Government  in
Westminster today -; Cambridge Labour Parliamentary Candidate Daniel
Zeichner will attend the event and says that the sector is vital to the
next wave in the Cambridge phenomenon:

“When Shadow Energy and Climate Change Secretary of State Caroline Flint
visited Cambridge Cleantech with me a few weeks ago we were left in no
doubt about the ambition and importance of this sector both for
Cambridge and for our wider economy and environment.  Labour knows that
the key thing needed by investors is long-term certainty, particularly
about the regulatory framework. It was Labour in Government, with Ed
Miliband as Secretary of State, that introduced the ground-breaking
Climate Change Act which at the time achieved near consensus across the
House of Commons. If Labour wins in May, we will set a clear target to
decarbonise the power sector by 2030, giving the cleantech sector the
certainty required to sustain long-term investment, and give the Green
Investment Bank genuine borrowing powers.  We need the sector’s
innovative capacity to deliver the change -; they need a government
committed to giving them the support and framework they need, and that
is our promise.”
