Daniel Zeichner, MP for Cambridge, has responded angrily to plans by Justice Minister Lucy Frazer (MP for South East Cambridgeshire) to close Cambridge Magistrates’ Court.

The minister yesterday announced a 10-week consultation into the future of the court. 

Mr Zeichner says: “Justice should be local. We are an important city and a growing city. There will always be a need for courts and those courts must be accessible for all those that need them.” 

“I think there will be a strong reaction to these proposals from the residents of Cambridge and I trust that the minister will listen closely.”
