Daniel Zeichner, MP for Cambridge, will be heading to London this Saturday (23 March 2019) to join hundreds of thousands of people marching in support of a People’s Vote on the final Brexit Deal. Mr Zeichner is a passionate supporter of the United Kingdom remaining in the European Union and is calling for the Prime Minister to revoke article 50 as a matter of urgency.
Daniel Zeichner MP, said: “This Saturday I will be joining hundreds of thousands of people who, like me, believe that leaving the EU would do lasting damage to this country. The Prime Minister has been ignoring a huge part of the population for far too long, hiding behind her claim that she is delivering on the ‘will of the people’. She chooses to forget that the people delivered a more recent judgement in the 2017 General Election, denying her the mandate she sought. For too long, the 48% have been ignored – now we are on the march.”
“The Prime Minister’s failures have plunged the country into a crisis. I say we now need to revoke Article 50. If not that, then at least there should be a public vote on whether to accept the Prime Minister’s proposals.”
Paul Browne, Chair of Cambridge Stays, said: “Twice as many people have booked seats on our coaches to this march than on any of our previous marches, which goes to show how angry the people of Cambridge are at the ongoing shambles of Brexit and the damage it is inflicting on the UK.
No Brexit deal can ever come close to being as good for the UK as EU membership, and while a no-deal Brexit would be a disaster, Theresa May’s Brexit deal will only condemn the UK to many years of rancorous debate and wasted opportunities. We urge MPs reject it for a 3rd and final time next week and back a People’s Vote on Brexit.”
This Saturday’s march is the third one to be organised by the People’s Vote Campaign. Last October, over 700,000 people marched in support of the campaign, much larger numbers than anticipated.  The march this Saturday is expected to attract over a million people, calling for the Government to give a People’s Vote on the final deal.
