A 50 pool could really help City of Cambridge Swimming Club go for gold: that’s what Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner heard when he visited for a start of season training session.

Last year, the club with has competitive swimmers aged 7 to 70, celebrated its best ever season. City of Cambridge Swimming Club finished top of the medals table at the County Championships. Cambridge swimmers also won medals at the British Nationals, Home Nation Competitions and the Para Swimming National Competitions.

But Head Coach James Freezer says the club could achieve even better results if swimmers could train in a 50 metre Olympic sized pool. Currently the nearest facilities are in Luton, London and Norwich.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “The City of Cambridge Swimming Club are certainly making a splash in competitions. I was delighted to watch a training session and discuss how a 50 metre pool could make a big difference to the city.”
