Following the news that Barclays are closing their branch on Cherry Hinton Road on 27th November 2020, Daniel Zeichner MP said:

“I’m really disappointed to hear about the closure of the Barclays branch on Cherry Hinton Road. This comes hot on the heals of the news that the Coop Bank is closing their Cambridge branch too. There’s a worrying pattern emerging here. I know this decision will cause a lot of anxiety for people who go into the branch because they don’t have internet access; use it to pay in cash; or are only comfortable having difficult conversations about money face-to-face. Many constituents who run small businesses and people where English isn’t there first language, tell me they value a local in-person service. Banks need to pay attention to community concerns.”
