Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner visited a Cambridge boxing gym that punches above its weight as it re-opens its doors for the first time since the covid shut down.

He will met coach Gary Davidson, a key worker hero who is employed by the NHS by day, and is a volunteer boxing coach in the evenings.

Gary says we need a gloves off approach in the fight against obesity and in keen his gym will play its part.

The inclusive Albion Boxing Club on Cherry Hinton Road caters for men, women and children and their youngest boxer is just four years old.

They never once wanted to throw in towel during covid emergency, and re-started outdoor training a few weeks ago. They are now delighted to finally open their indoor ring.

There will be plenty of covid secure measures in place and a reduction in the number of people per class from 30 to 12 to allow for social distancing.

Daniel Zecihner MP said: “We know keeping fit and healthy is important in the fight against coronavirus. Well done to Gary and his team of 12 volunteer coachesĀ to be stepping up to the challenge.”
