A local doctor has said they had to pretend to be a care worker in order to get a coronavirus test.

Daniel Zeichner MP today quizzed the Health Minister Nadine Dorries about covid testing for GPs after speaking to the angry doctor.

Many GPs regularly visit care homes and Mr Zeichner thinks they should automatically have a right to covid tests, even if they are asymptomatic.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “This should have been sorted by now. But all we heard from the minister was about doctors with symptoms being able to get tested – which we know; and promises about pilot schemes for the future. Clearly GPs nationwide who visit care home regularly should be getting tested regardless of if they have the symptoms. They shouldn’t have to go undercover to beat the system! It is frankly ridiculous that the people trying to help us get healthy could be unwittingly spreading the disease. It also shows once again what scant regard the Government have for doctors. They really need to get a grip.”
