Re-Use Cambridge has recently enjoyed a large amount of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for their work in encouraging people to recycle rather than discard their furniture.

The charity, which regularly encourages recycling will meet their MP as well as a representative from the National Lottery Community Fund to show how their funding makes a difference.

Residents of Cambridge say that the charity is a welcome addition to the area, providing low-cost but high quality furniture and service with a smile.

Nearly 32% of all household furniture waste is re-useable in their current state and the figure goes up to 52% when factoring furniture that would need a slight repair

Daniel Zeichner MP said: ‘It is fantastic to be supporting important charities like Re-Use Cambridge. From tables and tea stands, to cabinets and chairs, to sofas and sools our country throws away 110,000 tonnes of furniture that could be recycled. Such furniture would be welcome in most homes.

Good furniture makes a house turn truly into a home.  Many households search for bargain deals for furniture that is both appealing and pricey. But with a crippling cost of living crisis many local families are struggling to afford furniture which makes funding charities like this one all the more important.”
