Wearing a white ribbon local MP Daniel Zeichner spoke at the Cambridge City Council’s Domestic Abuse Conference as part of the White Ribbon campaign as part of International Day to Eliminate Violence Against Women.

The Cambridge City Council ran a conference to combat domestic violence against women and has a number of speakers from across the city.  The conference aims to highlight positive masculinity in particular in the run up to the World Cup which starts on Sunday.

Daniel spoke at 11:45 about raising awareness about the White Ribbon Campaign and their theme to fight violence against women.  Domestic abuse is estimated to affect nearly 1 in 4 women in their lifetime.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: ‘The Cambridge City Council has always stood up for women and fought domestic violence. Domestic violence is a scourge in our society and harms the lives and safety of many members of our community. The White Ribbon Campaign is particularly important in raising awareness and breaking down gender norms which are vital to ending domestic violence.  I am very pleased to be supporting Cambridge City Council as they continue their track record of fighting domestic violence and working together with the White Ribbon Campaign.  I look forward to an invigorating and important conference.’
