Small businesses will be in the spotlight this Friday for an early Small Business Saturday as Daniel Zeichner MP and the Cambridge Business Improvement District visit small businesses in Cambridge

This grassroots campaign aims to promote the excellent work of small businesses and encourage people to shop local, paying attention to the many homegrown businesses and services on their high streets.

Cambridge has long been home to thriving small businesses along its old streets, serving a vibrant and enthusiastic community.

Over 90% of the business population is made up of small and medium sized businesses, yet many of them are still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: ‘It is fantastic to be supporting small businesses all across Cambridge. From bakers and beauticians, to jewellers and joiners, to vintners and videographers our Cambridge streets are full of small businesses that offer great services for those across the city and wider area. We must support these businesses and help them recover from the pandemic.

Small businesses are the pillar of the economy and crucial to our city.  People cannot walk down streets like Mill Road or Kings Parade without seeing many small businesses. But post-pandemic and with a cost of living crisis and inflation many of these businesses are feeling the pinch and need our support.”
