Daniel Zeichner MP slams proposals to close Cambridge Magistrates' Court

Daniel Zeichner, MP for Cambridge, has responded angrily to plans by Justice Minister Lucy Frazer (MP for South East Cambridgeshire) to close Cambridge Magistrates' Court.

The minister yesterday announced a 10-week consultation into the future of the court.

Mr Zeichner says: "Justice should be local. We are an important city and a growing city. There will always be a need for courts and those courts must be accessible for all those that need them."

"I think there will be a strong reaction to these proposals from the residents of Cambridge and I trust that the minister will listen closely."
