Leading figures from the Cambridge Medi-Tech sector met Labour Shadow Business and Health Ministers at Cambridge’s first
Medi-Tech Summit, organised by Labour’s Entrepreneurs Network, which seeks to develop and enhance local business communities. The Network has been established by Shadow Business Secretary Chuka Umunna MP.

The event, at St John’s Innovation Centre in Cambridge, hosted by Daniel Zeichner, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Cambridge, focussed on the best ways to promote the booming local science sector and discuss what more government can do to strengthen its successes. The summit looked at the huge success of bio-tech in Cambridge and how it can be supported and grow further. There were also business and research displays, networking opportunities and a wider group in attendance keen to learn about the industry and its opportunities.

Daniel was joined by Shadow Business Minister Iain Wright MP and Shadow Health ministers, Chief Executive Officers from national Medi-tech groups and leading members of the local business and science community in Cambridge. Speakers included Billy Boyle of Owlstone Technology and Steve Bates, Chief Executive of the BioIndustry Association.
