Daniel Zeichner MP joined justice activists for the Giulio Regeni campaign at the Amnesty International market stall in Central Cambridge.

Daniel Zeichner MP and Alex Mayer MEP, alongside local councillors, expressed their solidarity with the campaign and on International Human Rights Day.

Cambridge student, Giulio Regeni, was killed in Egypt while doing his fieldwork into trade unions, and activists from the Truth for Giulio campaign are uniting with local politicians to maintain pressure on the British and Egyptian governments.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: ‘We were all shocked to hear of Giulio’s tragic death. For this reason I raised the serious matter in Parliament and in Brussels, where I met his parents and expressed Cambridge’s deepest condolences. I remain very concerned about the lack of information that has been provided and have called on the British Government to do more to get to the bottom of this tragic matter on numerous occasions.

Alex Mayer MEP added: ‘There are still too many unanswered questions that surround the death of Giulio. I’m joining with others calling for full transparency from the Egyptian Government, we need to get to the truth now’.
