Daniel Zeichner, Labour MP for Cambridge will today head down to Mill Road and join the public for a tour of Europe’s first ever Eco-Mosque, which is currently under construction.

Daniel Zeichner said, “I am look forward to putting on the hard hat and hi-vis jacket today and seeing how the site is progressing. The environmental credentials of the mosque are really something to champion and as a City we should welcome buildings that are incorporating Eco values into the premise of their design.”

The building is set to open in November 2018 and once open will be able to hold a congregation of up to 1,000 men and women and will have a cafe, teaching area and meeting rooms for use by the whole community.

Time Winter, chairman of the Cambridge Mosque Trust also attended one of the tours and in a statement from the Cambridge Mosque Project noted “Islamic civilisations has been based on the rejection of waste as an underestimation of God’s blessing. This idea is central to the principles behind the design of the mosque.”
