Labour candidate calls on Deputy Police Commissioner to resign

Daniel Zeichner, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Cambridge, has today called on the Deputy Policy Commissioner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Andy Coles to resign, following allegations that while as an undercover police officer in the 1990s he misled a 19-year-old political activist into forming a sexual relationship.

Mr Zeichner said: “Andy Coles has brought his role as Deputy Police Commissioner into disrepute. When he was undercover he took advantage of a teenager by concealing his true identity, which caused the victim real distress.

“He should do the honourable thing and resign.”
