Cambridge’s MP Daniel Zeichner will sit on the Science and Technology Committee. The cross-party Committee undertakes detailed scrutiny of Government policy and monitors the Government Office for Science which is based within the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.  The Committee has a broad remit and can examine the activities of departments where they have implications for, or made use of, science, engineering, technology and research.

Daniel said “Cambridge is a world leader in science and technology so I am delighted to be able to take on a key role in ensuring the Government understands the policies that our ground-breaking companies and universities really need.

My role will be to provide leadership, ask tough questions and rigorously scrutinise government policy.

I am also keen to look at new ways to inspire the next generation of science and technology innovators.”
