Shadow Education Secretary Tristram Hunt MP discusses school funding issues

Labour Shadow Education Secretary Tristram Hunt MP visited Coleridge Community College to meet Cambridgeshire Secondary Head Teachers at the invitation of Cambridge Labour candidate Daniel Zeichner.

Daniel Zeichner said: "Schools across England are facing acute financial problems, made worse by the current Government's obsession with vanity projects such as free schools and forced academisation. This week's evidence from a Parliamentary enquiry shows that this unnecessary meddling has not improved standards.

In Cambridgeshire we have a particular long-standing problem with school funding and recent reports on Cambridgeshire secondary schools show that we face serious challenges. Labour's focus will be on improving standards and ensuring that pupils are taught by properly qualified teachers - a proven and established route to success."
