Saturday’s protests were good-natured and colourful and playing badminton on Tennis Court Road was certainly a pleasant change from being stuck in traffic there. Cambridge’s congestion problems are complex but as a first-step we must make sure there is a regular, affordable and convenient public transport network so that people make the positive choice to switch. I would like to see more traffic-free zones and traffic free days but they need proper planning and consultation with residents and businesses. When Mill Road is closed for the Winter Fair, local businesses thrive, and that’s something I would like to see replicated.
