amira.jpgAmira Haque (20) from Kings Hedges Road has been crowned the overall winner of the Cambridgeshire Young People of the Year awards (YOPEY) which took place last night.

Daniel Zeichner MP who was a judge and attended the ceremony said:

“What a fantastic set of finalists and special congratulations to Amira.

“Amira is a fantastically determined and very busy young woman! She is clearly a natural leader and campaigner.

 “Amira’s confidence and dedication shine through – she is one to watch for the future!”

Amira Hague has volunteered at Addenbrooke’s, campaigned with Amnesty International, organised a Recycling Fashion show, helped changed perceptions surrounding migration and set up the online #Loveyourself campaign.

The YOPEY awards are now in their tenth year and were hosted by talented Long Road Sixth Form students.
