Daniel Zeichner MP for Cambridge, today spoke out about his worries about the Black Friday trend currently sweeping across the country from the United States.

The last Friday of November, Black Friday, is known for black eyes and bruises as bustling shoppers brawl for bargains.

“I have nothing against the sales themselves,” said Mr Zeichner, “I fear that the important British value of queuing is being lost.”

In shocking scenes, last year’s Black Friday saw abuse hurled at staff and some people sustain minor injuries in the shopping scramble.

Abuse is not a part of the job for shop workers, yet a recent Usdaw survey shows that well over half of retail staff experienced verbal abuse in the last year.

Mr Zeichner continued: “By all means have fun in the sales but bear in mind the safety of your fellow shoppers and staff. What we have to remember is this is a sale in a shop and not American football.”
