Daniel Zeichner MP Standing up for Cambridge
The case of Cambridge man Nick Dale (36) who has a complex range of disabilities was raised today by Daniel Zeichner MP in the House of Commons.
Mr Dale’s care package has been slashed by Cambridgeshire County Council from 17 hours a week to just 6 and a half.
To cries of “shame”, Mr Zeichner told MPs that the county council had written to Mr Dale to tell him he should not see this reduction negatively but as a way of “utilising the strengths and resources he may not realise he has within himself.”
Condemning the loss to Mr Dale and the patronising tone, which he said had been borrowed from the Government, Mr Zeichner said: “Mr Speaker, if I lift the Secretary of State’s wallet in the lobby tonight would it help him utilise hidden strengths he didn’t realise he had or would he be as furious as I am about the way Nick Dale has been treated.”
